Sparking Curiosity: Designing Responsible AI Capability in Healthcare Systems

Generative AI is spreading rapidly across organizations, yet many healthcare professionals remain cautious. Concerns about privacy, reliability, and responsible use often make experimentation feel risky, creating a gap between technological excitement and practical adoption.

Presenting a design case from a healthcare innovation context in Montréal that explored how to create safe conditions for professionals to experiment with generative AI responsibly. Through a Practical Playbook and a participatory “Learn & Play with GenAI” experience, more than 60 cross-disciplinary healthcare professionals explored tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Perplexity, NotebookLM, and Elicit across six interactive stations facilitated by internal super users.

The model was later repeated with leadership and additional cohorts, showing how a small exploratory initiative can evolve into a scalable organizational learning practice driven by curiosity, peer learning, and structured experimentation.
